A cookbook about the joy of feeding people
and being fed in return.

There is something that happens when you sit down to eat with someone. Not grabbing food on the way somewhere. Not eating over a screen. But actually sitting, passing a dish, looking at each other. Something loosens. Something opens. That is what this cookbook is about.Kesh's Table holds seventy recipes that began in my mother Gloria's kitchen in Monrovia, Liberia — and grew as I grew. Some were taught to me by Gloria and by Mary, the woman who raised us with laughter and folktales and a wooden spoon that never stopped stirring. Others I developed along the way, shaped by the cultures I experienced, the strangers who became family over a shared plate, the quiet miracle of feeding people and watching them soften.Sharing food is a transmission of love. That's the whole point. That's this whole book. This isn't a cookbook that's trying to impress you. There are no complicated techniques, no hard-to-find ingredients, no pretense. These are recipes that nourish — body first, then spirit. Recipes that remind you that the simplest act of cooking for someone is also the most profound.I've walked the Camino de Santiago four times. Each walk taught me something different — about grief, about rhythm, about gratitude. But the lesson that kept returning, the one written into every mile, was this: when you feed people, something sacred happens. Walls come down. Languages stop mattering. You're just people, sharing a table, being seen. That's the feeling I want you to have when you cook from this book. Not perfection. Connection.
